Do you keep your HTML squeaky clean and semantic? Can you cascade your style sheets with grace and elegance? At ebookcraft 2017, we want to put your skills to the test again with a competition that separates the ebook design masters from the wannabes. Do you think you're up for it?
Last year, we ran the first ever So You Think You Can Code contest. This year, you have a leg up because you can see a little bit of what's in store for you by looking at the winning entry from last year. Take a look at samples from winner Rebecca Springer's code, get some pointers as to what the judges are looking for, and start psyching yourself up to take home this year's prize!
Oh, the prize? Not only will you win some pretty hefty bragging rights, but there’s also a $2,500 cash prize up for grabs thanks to our contest prize sponsor Rakuten Kobo! You're going to want to compete for this!
How it works:
- Read the Official Contest Rules.
- Sign up as an individual or team (limit: two people per team) and pay the $15 entry fee using the form on this page by Feb. 19, 2017.
- We’ll send you a rough-around-the-edges EPUB file on Feb. 20, 2017. Your mission (should you choose to accept it): to transform this mess into a glorious, beautifully designed, platform-agnostic, fully accessible ebook. Note: Submissions may be made publicly available after the competition, so a CC-BY license is necessary.
- Submit your file by 11:59 p.m. EDT on March 17, 2017.
- Our panel of judges will QA all submissions across multiple e-readers and devices, and select a winning entry. The winner(s) will be showered with prizes (and nerd glory!) at the end of the ebookcraft conference on March 23, 2017.
You’ve got skills, we’ve got prizes, so let’s make beautiful ebooks together!
