Toronto, ON – May 31, 2024 – Noah Genner moves into new position at BookNet Canada, new CEO appointed
BookNet Canada announced today that President & CEO Noah Genner is moving into a new position at the organization. Noah joined BookNet April 1, 2004 and was appointed as President & CEO in June 2009. The BookNet Canada Board of Directors has appointed Lauren Stewart as President & CEO.
Over his twenty years with BookNet, Noah led the launches of nearly all of BookNet’s marquee projects, including SalesData, CataList, and BiblioShare. Moreover, his fifteen years as President & CEO are notable for strong fiscal oversight, intentional and considerable investment in BookNet Canada-owned IP, staff team growth, and product and service expansion in service of BookNet’s stakeholders. Noah’s contributions are not limited to those benefitting the Canadian publishing supply chain. In 2016, he won the Book Industry Study Group’s Most Valuable Volunteer award and in 2020 he co-founded the Green Book Alliance.
BookNet Canada’s Chair of its Board of Directors Lindsey Hunnewell notes that “Noah Genner’s impact on the industry and BookNet is notable. Over his tenure as CEO, Noah increased BookNet’s self-generated revenue by over 10%, established of a reserve for operations, and oversaw a staff team growth of 167%. Moreover, we are confident that Noah’s leadership has provided BookNet with a solid foundation to move into the current two-year business plan. We are grateful that Noah will also be available to assist with the transition to a new President & CEO in Lauren Stewart.”
Lauren Stewart is well-known to BookNet stakeholders and the wider industry. She has been with the organization since 2011, most recently as Director of Customer Relations, Conferences & Operations. Her strong knowledge of the industry is clear through the thought leadership she brought to programming the Tech Forum conference, through her membership in and leadership of industry committees and working groups, and in the educational presentations she delivers to BookNet’s stakeholders. Lauren has lead in the creation and restructuring of many of BookNet’s policies and procedures, works closely with the BookNet Board of Directors, and across BookNet’s many products and services teams.
Noah Genner will remain with the organization in a new role continuing his cornerstone contributions to BookNet’s ever-essential research program, international standards, and leadership in the Green Book Alliance.
