The Secret is Out: Rhonda Byrne’s Blockbuster is the Bestselling Book of 2007, Finishing Ahead of Even Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
TORONTO, December 17, 2007 - 2007 was a hard year to keep The Secret with Rhonda Byrne’s bestselling title edging out all competition to finish number one overall.
BookNet Canada SalesData shows The Secret was 2007s top-selling book and the only non-fiction title on this year’s top five selling titles. And no surprises for wizard fans: topping the fiction category was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows while our homegrown favorite remained Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures for the second year running.
The Scotiabank Giller Prize and Canada Reads need only look to this year’s fiction bestsellers for more evidence of the power of Canada’s top awards. Not only was 2006s Giller Prize winner Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures the number one Canadian-authored title in 2007 and the fifth best-selling fiction paperback, Canada Reads 2007 winner Lullabies for Little Criminals finished number five on BNC SalesData’s Canadian list.
The You series from Mehmet Oz and Michael Rosen continues to make its way to the homes of every You in Canada, with both You: Staying Young and You: On A Diet finding their way into the hardcover non-fiction top five.
