Her math is irrefutable

Hello everyone.

My name is Kitty, and I’m the new Research Intern at BookNet Canada. Of course, like all other interns in the industry before me, I love books. Some of my most vivid childhood memories include watching my dad balance stacks of Nancy Drew novels to sign out at the local library. I think that was all I read for a year – Nancy Drew over and over and over again. I also love hiking, cooking, bad puns, and have recently developed a very healthy obsession with arugula.

Beyond books and arugula, I’ve always been intrigued by all things language and communication, which led me to study both English literature and linguistics during my undergrad. I graduated from Humber College’s Creative Book Publishing Program (along with former intern Jordyn Martinez, my seatmate at Humber), and spent several fascinating months as a Marketing and Publicity Intern at Cormorant Books.

I was drawn to this internship at BookNet partially because it was so unique to the industry – not only had I heard fantastic things about this program, at Humber and from previous interns, but I was also eager to learn about the realities of the industry from a broader perspective. It is only my first week, yet I already know that the practical skills I develop here will be invaluable for my future endeavours. I'm ready to work hard, challenge myself, and learn from all the wonderful people here at BNC. Thanks for the great opportunity!
