Goodbye, old friend

I cannot believe my time at BookNet Canada is already over. The past eight months have passed by in a blur of Excel and SalesData. At the beginning, I thought I had an idea of what I was going to do and how things would go.

I had no idea that the kind of work I would be doing would be so varied, and so satisfying. I spent a couple intense months working onThe Canadian Book Market 2015, and I can honestly say I have never been so proud of a final product. The other big project I worked on was The State of Digital Publishing in Canada 2015, which was full of really interesting information and was really exciting to pull together.

Some of my other tasks were completely different from pulling data for these giant reports. I got the opportunity to do some website testing, play with our new SalesData site and contribute to its help manual, get librarians set up on CataList, and even create infographics and write blog posts. They even let me make a Star Wars-themed infographic for May the Fourth! I was also fortunate enough to be here during the commencement of Loan Stars. I helped build and update the catalogues, tally the votes, and witness first-hand the enthusiasm of library staff joining CataList to participate.

During my time at BookNet Canada, I reached the level of Spreadsheet Superstar (thanks to Krista for the killer badges from ebookcraft) and gained so much confidence in my skills. I now have all the tools I need to go out and work in publishing and be successful. I learned that I am way more into sales and numbers than I thought, I have terrible aim with an axegiant s'mores are my kryptonite, and the BookNet family is the most welcoming environment to work in.

I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with the folks here at BookNet, and I will miss being here! Thank you to everyone who made my time here so memorable and educational.

Goodbye, friends!
