BISG has a committee that has been working on a standard that encourages the search, discovery, and retrieval of online book content and that also allows publishers to manage the quality and availability of that content. Work is nearing completion on a set of HTTP transactions between a publisher’s digital archive and the websites of syndication partners such as booksellers and search engines.
Before the standard is published later this summer, a number of volunteer companies including Libre Digital, Ingram Digital, and others will be testing the transactions in a proof-of-concept phase.
