The iPhone launched in the UK earlier this week and HarperCollins UK has announced their position as the only book content provider. The content will be free as in samples rather than full books with about 5% of any given work available.
“HC c.e.o. and publisher Victoria Barnsley said the large screen and ‘tactile nature’ of the iPhone mean it could become the ‘break-through device for consuming digital product on the go’, thus bringing publishing closer ‘to the ultimate e-book dream’.”
I can’t speak for everyone but my ultimate eBook dream could well include an iPhone with a Canadian provider, great book content to preview and…probably Daniel Craig somehow. (I’m still working it out.)
